Baby Basics is based at:

Baby Basics provides quality baby equipment on a loan and return basis and a toy lending library for children aged 0 -2 years. We also have a supply of quality baby clothes and baby essential toiletries.

We also accept donations of good quality baby equipment, newborn baby clothes and other essential baby items.

There is a one off membership fee of £1 to join.

Baby equipment is loaned out on payment of a returnable deposit up to a maximum of £30. For example a cot requires a £30 deposit and a single pushchair £20. Provided the equipment is returned in good condition the deposit is refunded. There is no time limit on equipment loans, but they do need to be renewed every 3 months.

Toys can be borrowed for 2 weeks at a time at no charge.

We also have a selection of baby clothes from 0 - 2years of which a maximum of 10 items may be taken free of charge.

The service has been widely used since it started in 2005. It currently has nearly 200 members and over 300 children have benefited from the service.

Many statutory agencies, health professionals and other voluntary agencies across the City refer parents to us. A large % of our service users are from ethnic minority groups with many being assylum seekers or refugees.

The project is run by volunteers and we welcome enquiries of help especially as we are looking to expand this service to new areas of the city.
